AT&T Declares Surplus of 31 Members in Yellow Pages

The Company has formally notified the Union that a surplus condition exists for the indicated titles and company-defined entities in the Yellow Pages Department.

The company has also notified the Union of its intent to introduce layoffs to relieve this surplus condition as defined in Article VI of our contract. 

Step 1 of the process has been initiated and notices were sent to all bargaining unit employees on each of the titles within the affected pools to offer the opportunity to voluntarily leave the Company with the EVSP offer.

TIMELINE 

7/2/08  Formal Company Notification of Surplus and Delivery of EVSP/ FTW(follow the work)  EO/ERB(Enhanced Offer Early Retirement Benefit) packages were delivered to employees.  As is traditionally done, members on vacation ,  disability leave of absence were sent package via overnight mail

7/16/08 Deadline for return of EVSP/ FTW & EO/ERB form forms 12:00 Noon

7/17/08 Notification of approval of EVSP Application and Voluntary Redeployment process begins

8/1/08 Initiate Bumping process within the pools

8/15/08  Force Disposition Date Extend GJO(Guaranteed Job Offer/CIS) to employees designated for layoff

The union was able to negotiate a bridge from the YP dept to Core Telco in order to offer the GJO


8/16/08 Accept / Reject GJO

If accepted a date will be provided by the company for transfer - there are no testing requirements 

If rejected - A member will be off the payroll but still able to collect the EVSP
