Rather than negotiate in good faith, some employers make unreasonable demands to force employees to strike, attempting to “starve them out.” Current law allows employers to leverage the threat of evictions, foreclosures and repossessions to suppress wages and working conditions because striking workers cannot access unemployment benefits.

The Connecticut General Assembly has acted to protect working families by passing SB 8, legislation allowing striking workers to access unemployment insurance after they have been on strike for two weeks. Now the bill is going to Governor Lamont’s desk, but he has threatened to veto it!

It’s important to contact Governor Lamont NOW and urge him to stand with working people, not powerful corporations and wealthy CEOs!
